LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 5, 2007) ― Just a week removed from her dramatic encounter with a group of Japanese fishermen, it's understandable that Hayden Panettiere still gets emotional when she talks about the incident.

In part two of her interview with Access Hollywood, the "Heroes" star took Tony Potts through her heart wrenching journey.

"I'm going to get emotional again," Hayden said as she sat on our stage re-watching the footageof her attempt to save a group of pilot whales from inveitable execution.

Her words soon to came to fruition as the teen star began to break down on our stage as she watched the footage of herself sobbing on the shore,following the incident.

"We went into the bay and it was literally blood red," she recalled, as tears welled up in her eyes. "You could have stuck a paint brush in there and painted a picture with how red the water was."

Hayden joined a group of peaceful protestors in the water, fighting against the whales being slaughtered for their meat. As a spokesperson for SaveTheWhalesAgain.org, Hayden's passion and actions have set her apart from so many other young stars.

"How does somebody of your age have such a good head on her shoulders?" Tony asked.

"I try to stay as far away from clubs or scenes as I possible can," Hayden revealed.

In addition, she credits her mother Lesley for being a positive influence in her life.

In fact, Lesley even joined Hayden in those waters off the coast of Japan.

"I'm very proud of my daughter. She's one of the good girls," her mother said earlier this year on Hayden's 18th birthday.

Beaming words of pride from mom about her daughter, which Tony reminded Lesley of saying when she joined Hayden on our stage.

"I remember saying that. She is one of the good girls," Lesley smiled. "Hayden will get upset with me about something and I'll say to her, 'That's my job. As your mom, that's my job.'

"I think she gets it. She gets it. She knows," her mom concluded.

Hayden Leslie Panettiere (born August 21, 1989[1]) is an American actress, singer, and Grammy Award nominee. She is perhaps best known for her role on the NBC series, Heroes, as Claire Bennet.

She was born in Palisades, New York.[1] daughter of Lesley R. Vogel, a former soap opera actress, and Alan L. "Skip" Panettiere, a fire department lieutenant.[2] She has one younger brother, fellow actor Jansen Panettiere,[3] and a younger sister named Emma Panettiere.

Panettiere attended South Orangetown Middle School in New York but following 7th grade, finished her high-school education via home schooling[4] and has postponed higher education due to her dedication to an acting career, though she has expressed an interest in "continuing to learn".[5]

Hayden began professional modelling at the age of 8 months old. She then began appearing in commercials at 11 months, first appearing in an advertisement for Playskool [6] She later landed a role as Sarah Roberts on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live (1994- 1997) and later as the child Lizzie Spaulding on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light when she was eight years old (1997 - 2001). In Guiding Light, for Hayden's character Lizzie's battle with leukemia, the show received a Special Recognition Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for bringing national awareness of the disease to the attention of daytime viewers. Panettiere currently stars as Claire Bennet in the NBC series Heroes as a high school cheerleader with regenerative healing powers. Due to her role on Heroes, she has become a regular on the science fiction convention circuit, having been invited to attend many popular conventions around the world in 2007, including New York Comic-Con and Fan Expo Canada. In regards to the roles she has played, Panettiere admits that options are sometimes limited because "people look at [her] as either the 'popular cheerleader' type or just 'the blonde.'"[8]

She has appeared in over a dozen full-length feature films, as well as several made-for-TV movies. She provided the voice for Dot in the Pixar CGI animated movie A Bug's Life for Disney.[9] In addition, she had a leading role as the voice of Kairi in the highly successful Kingdom Hearts series of video games for the Playstation 2. She had a starring role in FOX's Ally McBeal as Ally McBeal's daughter, and a recurring guest role in Malcolm in the Middle. She guest starred in Law & Order: SVU. She played Sheryl Yoast in the film Remember the Titans. She starred in Bring It On: All or Nothing as a cheerleader.

She will later appear in the drama film Fireflies in the Garden as a younger version of Emily Watson's character Jane Lawrence. Coincidentally, George Newbern, who voiced Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts II (alongside Panettiere) and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, will also appear in the film. In June 2007, she signed with the William Morris Agency to represent her in her endeavors. She was previously represented by United Talent Agency.[10]

Forbes estimated that she earned $2 million in 2007.[11]

Panettiere was nominated for a Grammy in 1999 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for A Bug's Life Read-Along [2000].[12]

She is currently working on her debut album, which was originally planned for release on May 8, 2007. The album, however, has been pushed back several times. It was first pushed back until August, then to December. Entertainment Weekly later confirmed that the album would now be released in 2008. Hayden is featured on the Soundtrack to Bring It On: All Or Nothing alongside with her co-star Solange Knowles. It is still unknown if a video for Your New Girlfriend will be filmed or that it has already been released. She also recorded a song titled Try for the 2007 Bridge to Terabithia soundtrack.

On October 31, 2007 Panettiere was involved in a violent confrontation with Japanese fishermen as she tried to disrupt their annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, Wakayama. She paddled out on a surfboard, with five other surfers from Australia and the United States in an attempt to reach a pod of dolphins to stop them being driven into a nearby cove and killed, but they were intercepted by a fishing boat before they could reach the dolphins. The fishermen used the boat's propellers to block their way and at one point struck out with a boat hook in a confrontation that lasted more than 10 minutes before the surfers were forced to return to the beach. The surfers drove straight to Osaka airport and left the country to avoid being arrested for trespassing by the Japanese police. Many Japanese consider this kind of act as an attack on their culture.[14][15] Taiji's fishery cooperative union argues that these protesters "continue willfully to distort the facts about this fishery" and protester's agendas are " based neither on international law nor on science but rather on emotion for economic self-interest."[16] Hayden claims that an arrest warrant on her has been issued in Japan for her interference in the dolphin hunt.[17] In November 2007, Hayden was awarded the "Compassion in Action Award" from the animal rights group PETA for her efforts to stop the dolphin hunt in Japan.
